Wallpaper... Things I Love

"I indulged with one wall in my London living room covered in a gorgeous pattern"                                                                                                                                      Gwyneth Paltrow

DE GOURNAY.....

I started out to do a post on different wallpapers, textures and styles but I just couldn't get past de Gournay. I'm not the first or the last to do a post on them, but there is a reason why. Their hand painted wallpapers are beautiful, luscious, grand, and luxurious. So I decided to post 2 of different wallpapers starting off with the top of line.  I not only want the paper I want the house it goes in. Again, I will blame the Shit Ass Disease on me not having either.

The founder of the English company, Claud Gurney, started out exclusively creating hand-painted Chinoiserie, or Chinese, designs from 18th and 19th centruy inspiration.  Since then, the company has expanded to also include French 19th Century Papier Peints Panoramiques, as well as Japanese, Korean and Eclectic designs.  In addition, de Gournay also creates custom-painted fabrics (worn my the Dutchess of Cambridge), and porcelains to complement their wallcoverings   "You feel like you've been transported to this moonlit garden, this woodland glade", says Jemma Cave, a designer at de Gournay.  "It's almost like being in a fairy tale" Cave went on to say.

For most of us that is just what this wallpaper is... a fairy tale.  I'm not sure what it cost but it's reported $12,000 a room. Does that mean a powder bath or one wall in a "room"?  Who knows if Gwyneth Paltrow can only "indulge with one wall" I can't afford it.  I can certainly appreciate it though.  Here is just a few I couldn't resist.  If you want to see more they have a beautiful website. degournay.com
